Village Maintenance/ Water Operator Needed

The Village of Platte Center is actively seeking to fill the Town Maintaince/Water Operator position due to the unforeseen circumstances of our current worker’s passing. The position is full time with pay based on experience. Benefits to be determined.
General Statement of Duties: Performance in a variety of tasks involving construction, maintenance and repairs to the Municipal town roads, streets, storm sewers, facilities and equipment, parks and building maintenance. The position requires a certified Water Operator with training being offered by the Village.
Job Description: This Employee would perform manual tasks in the maintenance, construction and repair of town roads, streets and right-of-ways. The Maintenance Worker may operate a truck, tractor, plow, heavy equipment, hand tools, motorized equipment, mowers, tractors and various other equipment. Assignments are supervised and outlined by the Town Board Chairman and Board of Trustees who will delegate duties and inspect the progress of work completed, in conformance with established standards and specifications, safety and economy of operations. Employees in this position are expected to exercise some judgment in work methods and planning detail. The employee will perform skilled technical duties and semi-skilled labor in the operation and maintenance of the City’s water or wastewater treatment facilities; performs adjustments and repairs to facility equipment; collects and documents samples for laboratory testing; and performs a variety of related duties as assigned.
